Mullayanagiri

Mullayanagiri is the highest peak in Karnataka known for its breathtaking views located in the Baba Budangiri range of the western ghats. A perfect location to visit with family and friends Mullayanagiri​ is 42 kms or 1.5 hours drive from Guddadamane Homestay. Vehicles can go to the top most part that is the second base where there is limited parking, post which you will have to climb around 450 steps to get to the top most point. During weekends and busy seasons it gets crowded leading to traffic jams, during these times you will have to park the car in the first base which is Seethalayanagiri and walk around 2 kms. If you're lucky there might be jeeps shuttling between Seethalayanagiri and Mullayanagiri which can be availed on chargeable basis.

Jhari Waterfalls

Jhari Waterfalls has multiple names like buttermilk falls, Sagheer Ahmed falls or Dabedabe Falls. Located on the way to Baba Budan Giri, Jhari waterfalls is in a private coffee plantation and accessible only by 4x4 jeeps. You will need to park your car and hire a jeep to get to the waterfalls. Around 6 to 7 people can sit in the jeep and the charges are roughly between Rs.700 to Rs.800. Jahri waterfall is a perfect place to visit and experience a sense of calmness. You can take a dip in the waterfall, don’t forget to carry dry clothes to change. Best time to visit is post noon.

Baba Budangiri

Baba Budangiri is a range of mountains in the western ghats of Karnataka. This range was initially known as Chandra Drona Parvatha. Named Baba Budangiri after the sufi saint Baba Budan who first got raw coffee beans from Mecca, Yemen while getting back from Hajj and planted the same in this range. Baba Budangiri is famous for its trails where enthusiastic trekkers look forward to hikes.

Hirekolale lake is a manmade lake with a backdrop of the Baba Budangiri range of mountains. A nice place to visit in the evenings during sunset. The drive to hirekolale lake is through winding plantation roads. This lake was developed to supply water to Chikmagalur town.

Sringeri Temple

Sri Sharadamba temple is a very famous hindu temple located in Sringeri town. It was founded by Sri Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century and is located on the banks of the river Tunga, and is also a historical Temple. The temple is about 68 kms or 2 hours drive from Guddadamane Homestay. Darshan Timings in the morning is from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM and evening from 5:00 PM to 9.00 PM. Best time to visit would be in the morning. One can plan accordingly and visit Hornadu as well.

Hornadu is famous for Annapoorneshwari Temple dedicated to the goddess Annapoorneshwari situated on the banks of river Bhadra. It is surrounded by nature and lush green forests. The temple is about 70 kms or 2 hours drive from Guddadamane Homestay. It is always better to plan and leave in the morning if Hornadu is on your itinerary. Also one can plan accordingly and visit Sringeri as well.

Kyatanamakki is the perfect place to escape high up in the hills, covered by lush green carpets and thick clouds. The dirt trails on the hills need to be accessed by 4x4 jeeps, which is completely off road somewhat like a rollercoaster ride. With picturesque landscapes and adrenaline rush, one can visit Kyatanamakki if they are around Horanadu.For someone planning from Chikmagalur town you will need to set aside a day.

Kemmanagundi and Surroundings

Kemmangundi is a popular hill station in Chikmagalur after Mullayangiri. It was a summer heaven for Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV. Being unknown for many years it is now popular amongst trekkers and wildlife enthusiasts. There are many places you can visit in and around Kemmangundi. ​ Z point ​ is a viewpoint which can be reached by hiking the trails, one can spend enough time soaking in the beautiful lush green valleys. Little away from Z point you can visit Shanti Falls​ .

Hebba Falls

Hebba Falls​ is one of the best waterfalls in this range gushing down from over 550 feet. To get to this waterfall you will need to hire a jeep which costs around Rs.2500 to Rs.3000, the charges are high as the roads are in very bad condition and stretching around 8 to 10kms. On your way back one could visit ​ Kalhatti​ falls​ and V eerabhadreshwara temple​ . One can easily budget around 6 to 10 hours to visit all the places in kemmangundi including travel time from Chikmagalur.

Guddadamane Coffee Plantation Tour

Your trip to Chikmagalur is not complete without taking the tour of the splendid Guddadamane coffee plantations. The plantation is 24 kms or 40 mins drive from Chikmagalur town. The tour of the plantation lasts about 1 to 2 hours depending on the guests comfort, it costs Rs.350 per person which includes coffee plantation tour and fresh filter coffee with biscuits. Also you get to see the 150 year old plantation bungalow. Guests are free to spend some time at the plantation post the tour.
